Kenmark Construction Corp., the brainchild of Mark Kennedy and his partner/brother, Matt, recently relocated to its new business offices at 3936 Avenue B in Billings, Montana.

Mark Kennedy began working early in life on carpentry projects. As a young man, with obvious natural gifts in this field, he considered it as much fun as it was work. By his mid-teens, even before he was a member of the first graduating class of the Billings Career Center’s construction program, Mark had begun to work at construction professionally. One of the many goals obtained in Mark’s adult life came when he was honored by his peers in 1998, not only as Builder of the Year by the Home Builder’s Association of Billings, but also with the statewide award presented by the Montana Building Industry Association.

Mark started his business in 1984. He incorporated Kenmark Construction in 1990 and added his brother, Matt Kennedy, as General Partner and Superintendent in 1992. From a company that started out building homes, Mark and Matt have developed Kenmark into an enterprise that now includes remodeling and commercial projects, subdivision planning, land and project development and investment properties. Mark has never forgotten his roots in homebuilding, however, nor has he forgotten the sense of accomplishment he feels with each satisfied owner of a new home built by Kenmark. He refuses to slow his pace, as well. In 2005, Kenmark celebrated its fourteenth year as a participant in either the Spring Parade of Homes or Fall Parade of Homes, and often Kenmark participates in both in a given year.

Kenmark employs some of the most talented individuals in the building industry. Mark Allen, a lifelong friend of the Kennedy brothers, with an Engineering background and degree, has brought great depth to the Kenmark organization for the past 5 years in his role as General Manager. As Construction Superintendent, Pat Daugherty, who has been in the construction business for 30-plus years, adds his wealth of experience to the Kenmark picture. Ken Lloyd, Kenmark’s Commercial Construction Manager for the past 3 years, continues to be an incredible asset
to the company. Mike Winkler joined the team in early 2004 and brings his unique talents as Commercial Project Manager to Kenmark. The Kenmark story wouldn’t be complete without long-time employee Angela Kowalski, our skilled and efficient Office Manager; Cindy Kennedy, Matt’s hardworking wife, who manages accounting for several of Kenmark’s special projects; and latest addition Michelle Moran, Accounts Payable for Kenmark Corp. and Personal Assistant to Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Allen and Ms. Kowalski.

Kenmark Construction is an award-winning company recognized in the Parade of Homes and was named Builder of the Year multiple times. Kenmark Construction also holds memberships with the Home Builders Association of Billings, with Mark Kennedy serving as its president in 1997; the Montana Home Builders Association; the Billings Chamber of Commerce; the National Association of Realtors; the National Federation of Independent Businesses; and the Builders Exchange of Billings.

Mark K. Kennedy
President

Mark is founder and president of Kenmark Construction Corporation. He is responsible for all corporate operations and business development. Mark has over twenty years of experience in the construction industry and holds several distinguished awards including Montana Builder of The Year in 1998. He started as a laborer in the field as a young man and has held every position from journeyman carpenter to superintendent and project management. Over the years, Mark has expanded the company beyond construction. His background includes projects in commercial, industrial, tenant improvement, mall construction, subdivision development, commercial development and investment properties, as well as being an annual participant in the Billing’s Parade of Homes events.

Matt K. Kennedy
Vice President

Matt joined his brother Mark in 1992 after dominating the commercial fishing business in the Florida Keys for over ten years. His desire to raise his family of six in Montana brought him back to Billings where he grew up. Before that, Matt attended Gonzaga University in pursuit of an Engineering degree. Matt’s field experience in the trades, combined with his technical education, has helped him develop a practical hands-on approach to quality projects completed on time. Matt’s ability to deal with subcontractors and his positive attitude towards finding solutions to construction problems have ensured a smooth operation of all projects and related support activity. Matt’s education in Total Quality Management reinstates the quality you get in every Kenmark project.

Mark A. Allen
General Manager

Mark has been in the construction industry a short time compared to his co-workers. Before changing careers and heading back to his hometown of Billings, Mark spent twenty years in the mining industry. After graduating with a Mining Engineering degree from Colorado School of Mines, he worked with the likes of Peter Kiewit, National Gypsum, Mid-Continent Resources and Colorado Yule Marble Company, with everything from hands-on equipment operation, engineering design, and manager of operations to Vice President. Mark is responsible for project management and estimating and is involved in pre-construction activities including project planning and scheduling. Various software programs used by Mark and his staff include QuickBooks for Construction, Solidbuilder, SureTrak Project Manager and Excel.

Patrick R. Daugherty
Superintendent

Pat has been in the construction industry for over thirty years. His experience spans from hands on construction, superintendent, project manager, to President of Daugherty Construction for 16 years. Pat’s heavy construction experience in ground-up, retail, banks, restaurants, tenant improvement projects, condos, apartments and over 200 houses is invaluable when dealing with the customer. Pat’s field experience, along with his leadership in management and client relations, has proven to create many successful projects with numerous repeat clients. Pat’s proactive approach to problem solving and his honest representation of the situations arising during construction, can only lead to one thing – another successful, top quality project, completed within budget and on schedule.
